We are sisters that have crafted together for years and share the same passion for quality and creativity. We never start simple, always choosing difficult, highly detailed projects. The harder the project the better. Seed beads have always found a place into whatever craft we take up.
Coming from an extremely creative family we have learned everything from beading to woodworking, ceramics to sewing and anything else that may have peaked our creative interest. With each new interest we research techniques and supplies and with determination, learn everything that is needed to begin a new project.
With a natural eye for color and design and an endless color pallette to choose from, seed beading has quickly become our passion. From a simple spark of an idea we begin each piece one bead or link at a time until our vision is complete. We enjoy using multiple mediums in our projects such as glass beads, gemstones, chain maille, cystals and precious metals whenever possible.
Velvet Needles came to be as a result of some friends giving me (Venice) a box of old mixed-up beads. I would sit for hours sorting the colors and thinking about what I could turn them into. Then, Venita gave me some beads she had from years ago and I decided to make a beaded ornament for her. Afer running out of beads halfway through the project, she went online to find more. We never did find beads to match, but in her searches she discovered beaded flowers. Then we discovered hand-woven beaded jewelry and we have been beading almost daily since.
